Anthropologue is French for anthropologist. As I was saying it to myself the other day (yes, I talk to myself in French), I realized that it sounds roughly like "anthropolog" in English. And voila, the name of the blog was born.
This blog will be a collection of observations, a recently graduated anthropology student raising her daughter in suburban Utah. I feel a bit pretentious declaring myself an "anthropologist" but I guess that's what my degree makes me, so I am an anthropologist writing an ethnography of motherhood, my neighborhood, and local culture. This will be a collection of anthropological observations about the everyday world around me, a familiar world which I will attempt to make strange, per the anthropologist's dictum: make the familiar strange and the the strange familiar.
